Visits to the dentist can be daunting, and this is even more so if you are taking your child to the dentist for the first time. At our practice, we know this can be a stressful experience, but we are proud to say with confidence that it does not have to be.

What To Expect

Children should typically have their first dental visit within six months of their first tooth erupting. Attending dental checkups as an infant will allow our pediatric dentists to monitor their oral development as they grow and help your child get used to going to our office.

During your visit with us, our pediatric dentists will examine your child’s mouth, discuss their health history with you and establish a baseline moving forward. This initial visit is the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions! We encourage you to do so and are more than happy to provide educational materials to help you foster good dental habits in your child.

When preparing for your child’s first dental visit, we recommend talking frequently about the dentist with your child and reading books or watching movies about the dentist. Making going to the dentist seem like a normal thing will help your child warm up to the idea of visiting us, and staying positive about the experience will invite your child to make the same associations.
